How to get FREE Webspace

In theory, if you left your computer switched on all the time, you could use it as your server and people could access your web pages directly from your computer. A more practical solution for most websites is provided by Web Hosting companies. Your web pages are stored on their server instead of your computer. The Web Hosting company can often store lots of websites on a single server, each one having its own webspace. By sharing resources in this way, the cost of hosting your website can be vastly reduced and some companies even offer web hosting for free - Bart Hosting for example.

Bart Hosting was formed to provide churches and Christians with the best free hosting available. You don't have to be a Christian to use the service but please ensure that your website is not offensive to Christians!

Here's what to do to get your Free Webspace set up:

Sign up:
First of all, to visit Bart Hosting

Click on the SIGN UP option

Select the FREE hosting plan. You don't need to worry about a domain name just yet so ignore that part and continue.

Complete the rest of the sign up procedure as prompted then await your confirmation email.

The email explains how to use your account. A Hosting Contol Panel is provided that enables you to upload files and manage your website.

Inside the Hosting Control Panel, click on the Website Manager option along the top. This is where you'll find all the functions you need to set up your website and its domain name.

Set your Domain Name:

Click on the Domain Manager option within the Website Manager section of your Hosting Control Panel.

Type in your website's Domain Name and click to Add Domain

If all goes well, after a pause, your domain will be listed on the page with various details you may or may not understand!

Note the two Name Server (NS) addresses and the four numbers of the IP Address displayed in the (A) column then to see how you can point your Domain Name to your Web Pages.
